Although this Italian neo-progressive band has interpreted their name from one of the monikers Genesis played under in their earlier years, Garden Wall is far from being fundamentally a Genesis tribute band. Increasingly complex and heavy over the years, the group, lED by guitar player, keyboardist, and utterer Alessandro Seravalle, has as well experimented with identical gothic sounding instrumentals.

Garden Wall's first album, Principium (1993) institute the band in a very embryonic phase just hinting at the harder and more symphonious influence to come piece defintely rooting the chemical group in seventies trend progressive rock. Path of Dreams (1994) showed the mathematical group had matured greatly, on the job with increasingly complex and dynamical arrangements including on various instrumentals. 1995's The Seduction of Madness affected towards a heavier sound while Chimica (1997) consolidated unitedly their newfound harder edge with respective more quiet book of Numbers. Could Olympic 'weather controller' create rain-free festivals

A newfangled method of controlling the weather at UK festivals could be on the way after Olympic Games officials in Beijing managed to prevent rainfall during the opening ceremony in the Chinese metropolis on Friday (August 8).

The Independent reports that organisers used a new system which involved firing 1,100 rockets into the sky before the ceremony, preventing rainwater over the Bird's Nest stadium, which had been forecasted.

The rockets controlled the weather by inducing rainfall from clouds before the clouds got near to the arena. The rockets induce rain by cathartic particles that cause weewee vapour to freeze, then fall from the sky as rain.

Since reports of the weather control system were published music fans have e-mailed NME.COM to suggest that the system be exploited over here to help create rain-free festivals.

Many festivals, such as Glastonbury 2005 and 2007, have been marred by huge downpours, resulting in muddy w. C. Fields and making for very difficult conditions for fans.

However, it seems unlikely that Michael Eavis and fellow festival organisers will be investing in the technology until its cost comes down.

According to the organisers the weather control system costs "millions" of pounds to run.

Handel with care: Zurich Opera's 'Rinaldo' set in an airport

ZURICH, Switzerland - The new jet-set production of Handel's "Rinaldo" at the Zurich Opera left a large segment of the audience pretty much dumbfounded.

Director Jens-Daniel Herzog shifted the action from Jerusalem around the time of the First Crusade (1096-1099) to an airport luxury lounge and conference centre, more than a wee bit later than the First Crusade. Rinaldo, the Christian warrior, wears a double-breasted navy blazer, needs a drink and gets frustrated when an elevator door closes on him.

Characters go up and down on-stage escalators, and the set spins to show various areas of the lounge and terminal. There is a dissection of a small, white furry animal, a large snake, some allusions to Bond girls and character transformations. The Christians pull guns on the Muslims at a signing ceremony.

It was outrageous, entertaining and it had little to do with the opera that premiered in London in 1711.

This isn't the first time an opera has been time-shifted with an aeronautic theme. Peter Sellars' 1988 staging of Wagner's "Tannhaeuser" at the Lyric Opera of Chicago was moved from 13th-century Thuringia to an airport.

Herzog's staging, based on a concept from Claus Guth, opened June 14. Based on Wednesday's second performance, it's not an easy night for the audience, which was either so mesmerized or stupefied that a large segment was unsure whether to applaud when scenes ended.

The glue that held the night together was conductor William Christie, who drew a sublime performance from the Orchestra La Scintilla of the Zurich Opera.

At the beginning, the on-stage action is confusing, given its disconnect from Giacomo Rossi's libretto.

Goffredo, the Christian captain, is in a grey, chalk-striped suit. The "army" is six businessmen and two businesswomen who pirouette with their attache cases. Eustazio, Goffredo's brother, is a Johnny Depp look-alike wearing a morning coat and sunglasses.

Argante, the Saracen king, is in a suit and tan kufi, a crocheted prayer cap. Armida, the Queen of Damascus and a sorceress, prefers red slip dresses and red patent leather shoes (which she uses to kick Argante in a delicate area) but later transforms herself into Almirena, Goffredo's daughter, who goes for white dresses and a Grace Kelly head scarf. Mago, the Christian magician, appears to be a homeless person hanging around the airport with a white light saber.

In the intimate Opernhaus Zurich, which seats about 1,100, singers could be heard easily with no need to bellow.

Soprano Malin Hartelius gave an over-the-top performance as Armida, who with fiendish facial expressions gets to have the most fun. Soprano Ann Helen Moen was a sweet-voiced Almirena and was moving in the opera's most-famous aria, "Lascia ch'io pianga."

Mezzo-soprano Juliette Galstian, singing the title role for the first time during this run, had a lot to compete with in the busy staging but exhibited a clarion voice and winning ability to draw empathy. Soprano Liliana Nikiteanu was slimy as Goffredo, and contralto Katharina Peetz looked like a Tim Burton creation as Eustazio. Bass-baritone Ruben Drole was menacing as Argante.

Christian Schmidt's vividly modern sets and costumes, and Ramses Sigl's constantly whirling choreography left the greatest impact. Some might consider it Eurotrash, others great fun. All will find it memorable.

Jennifer Lopez Visits Autistic Kids School Graduation

A group of 10- and 11-year-olds at a Staten Island, New York, elementary school for autistic children moved singer Jennifer Lopez so much with their appreciation for her that she made their graduation day special.

Jennifer Lopez surprised children at P.S. 37, a school for autistic children in Staten Island Tuesday by dropping by to attend their graduation day. Not only did J. Lo show up to cheer the children on but she also performed for her young admirers.

The way Lopez came to visit the school was that teacher Kathy Amati showed them the video for Lopez’s single “Let’s Get Loud,” reports the Associated Press.

The youngsters were so impressed with the video that they wanted to watch it every day and even learned the lyrics and dance moves from the video.

Amati suggested that they write to Lopez how much they appreciate her video and the 38-year-old singer/actress was apparently so impressed that she decided to meet them in person.

The group of kids listened to their favorite song live when Lopez performed Tuesday especially for them.

The Bronx-born Lopez must be feeling as maternal as ever considering that she and husband Marc Anthony welcomed twin babies earlier this year. Emmie and Max, born Feb. 22 in Long Island, New York, are the couple’s first children. Anthony has three other children from previous relationships.

The couple, who have been married since 2004, kept the pregnancy a secret for a while, or at least they tried considering the intense speculation going on at the time, when Lopez and Anthony had embarked on their joint tour and her belly was a constant subject of analysis and discussion.

Upon having their babies, manager Simon Fields said in a statement that the couple was “delighted, thrilled and over the moon.”

Being “over the moon” seems to have changed Lopez’s renowned diva pretentiousness since she performed such a low-key concert for little kids.

After Genesis P-Orridge dissolved the seminal industrial rock kit Throbbing Gristle, he and Gristle cohorts Peter Christopherson and Cosey Fanni Tutti, plus Geoff Rushton, formed Psychic TV in 1979 as a means of chronic their confrontational, shock-oriented access to music and their multimedia hot performances. Psychic TV draws a great deal of its inspiration from the literary tube, including situationist philosophy, William Burroughs (a professed winnow), the Marquis de Sade, and Philip K. Dick. The grouping too claims to be the mouthpiece for its own quasi-religious group, the Temple Ov Psychick Youth. P-Orridge has been branded a grievous deviate in several publications, and police raided his home in 1992, seizing videos, books, and magazines next a television show concerning child clapperclaw in which a Psychic TV carrying into action artwork tV was shown out of context of use.

As for the music itself, Psychic TV's before years continued in the experimental vein of Throbbing Gristle's work, circumferent melodic pop, just listenable white dissonance, gentle ballads, industrial found-sound collages, spoken scripture pieces, and experiments with ethnical instruments and world music, all laced together by a dadaist sensitiveness. Force the Hand of Chance, the group's number one album, was released in 1982; during the '80s, Psychic TV's colossal output signal totaled over 20 albums. Much of this stemmed from a publicity stunt origin in 1986 for which the group attempted to release unitary live album, each from a different country, on the 23rd of each calendar month for 23 months. Even though the mathematical group didn't quite an attain its goal, the 14 albums Psychic TV released in 18 months were sufficiency to catch the group into the Guinness Book of World Records. Christopherson and Rushton both left field the group kinda early on to form Coil, and Psychic TV has since suit an open-ended corporate with contributors such as Alex Fergusson, at one time of Alternative TV. Psychic TV scored a small-scale U.K. pop strike in 1986 with "Godstar," a tribute to Rolling Stones guitar player Brian Jones, and 1988 saw the group's low album release in America with Allegory and Self.

Beginning in 1988, P-Orridge became a pioneer on the British golf club and gush setting. Records from the Chicago mansion shot by Frankie Knuckles and Farley Jackmaster Funk made their way to London, and when P-Orridge noticed the word "caustic" on one of them, he dubbed the British psychedelic sport "caustic house" and began recording and experimenting with the style on Jack the Tab: Acid Tablets, Vol. 1 and Towards Thee Infinite Beat. P-Orridge has since released albums under the name Psychic TV as well as using a mixed bag of aliases to produce "compilation" albums actually featuring all his own music. Several Psychic TV collections, as well as new material, appeared in the '90s; the charles Herbert Best of the retrospectives are the iI singles compilations Curse Sex and Godstar, and the 1999 overview Best Ov: Time's Up. New Psychic TV material took a backseat as P-Orridge's commitment to his spoken word project Thee Majesty and a unexampled philosophy he dubbed "Pandrogeny" occupied his fourth dimension. It was the latter that had him sledding under the tongue for breast implants and enforcing the use of the pronoun s/he. PTV work began over again in 2003 with iI days of touring stellar to studio work. A unexampled album was delayed when Throbbing Gristle reunited for a inadequate time, just work resumed in 2006. The ruined intersection, Hellhole Is Invisible...Heaven Is Here, arrived a year later.
